Join the Cliff Effect Initiative
Throughout Pennsylvania, the Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition and Women’s Way, along with other Supporters, are endeavoring to help working families avoid slipping back into dire financial straits when they receive a raise at work that results in the loss of crucial work supports, e.g. child care subsidies. That phenomenon is known as the “cliff effect”.
Sen. McIlhinney (R-10) has introduced two pieces of legislation designed to mitigate the cliff effect and keep Pennsylvania’s families working. SR 62 calls for a comprehensive study to “assess current state practices that promote economic opportunity and poverty reduction.” SB 715 will increase the amount of assets that a family is permitted to have (from $1,000 to $3,000), and stretches out the co-payment requirements for child care subsidies which would allow families to adjust to an increase in wages.
Our Initiative is building support for Sen. McIlhinney’s legislation among legislators and the general public. You can join by filling out and returning the form below.
